Notre Voix pour la Paix et la Justice
The 77 dedicated women of the Convention for Peace have sparked a transformative moment in history. Their collective efforts have given birth to ground-breaking documents, bearing witness to their unwavering commitment to Peace.After three years of laying the groundwork and building goodwill across all sides of Cameroon’s conflicts, the Women’s Convention for Peace is stepping into a more vocal and visible role. Through our statements, we amplify the voices of women Peace-builders and advocate for meaningful involvement in official Peace processes. We courageously speak up on critical issues, holding steadfast to our commitment to alleviate human suffering, prevent and punish sexual and gender based violence, and champion Peace through dialogue.
Our statements matter because they reflect the heartbeat of a movement that stands for Peace—not for any one side in the conflict. While we remain dedicated to neutrality in our pursuit of Peace, we recognise that silence is not an option when wrongs are being committed. Equally, when strides towards peace are made, we celebrate them. We must raise our voices to influence policy, inspire action, and ensure that Peace prevails.
Après trois années de préparation et de renforcement des relations avec toutes les parties des conflits, la Convention des Femmes pour la Paix adopte un rôle plus vocal et visible. À travers nos déclarations, nous amplifions les voix des femmes bâtisseuses de Paix et plaidons pour une participation significative aux processus de Paix. Nous avons le courage de prendre la parole sur des questions critiques, tout en restant engagées à soulager la souffrance humaine, à prévenir et punir les violences sexuelles, et à promouvoir la Paix par le dialogue.
Nos déclarations comptent car elles reflètent le cœur d’un mouvement défendant la Paix—non pour une partie du conflit, mais pour la Paix elle-même. Bien que dévouées à la neutralité dans notre quête de Paix, nous savons que le silence n’est pas une option face aux injustices. Lorsque des avancées vers la Paix se réalisent, nous les célébrons. Nous devons élever nos voix pour influencer les politiques, inspirer l’action et garantir que la Paix prévale.

ACCOUNTABILITY FOR CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY

This statement follows the arrest of a German national of Cameroonian heritage by Norwegian authorities for incitement to crimes against humanity in the ongoing Anglophone War. This is a crucial step towards justice for the atrocities of rape, murder, mutilation, and gratuitous violence that have ravaged civilians, particularly women and children. True Peace can only be achieved through justice, dialogue, and recognising our shared humanity.

Cette déclaration fait suite à l’arrestation par les autorités Norvégiennes d’un ressortissant Allemand d’origine Camerounaise pour incitation à des crimes contre l’humanité dans le cadre de la Guerre Anglophone en cours. Il s’agit d’une étape cruciale vers la justice pour les atrocités de viol, de meurtre, de mutilation et de violence gratuite qui ont ravagé les civils, en particulier les femmes et les enfants. La Paix véritable ne peut être atteinte que par la justice, le dialogue et la reconnaissance de notre humanité commune.
DEFENDING EDUCATION AND OUR CHILDREN’S FUTURE

This statement is a response to the lockdown imposed by non-state armed groups in Anglophone Cameroon, set to begin on 9 September 2024. The lockdown coincides with the start of the school year, threatening to deprive children of their right to education and their future. The statement condemns this action as a violation of international law and a grave injustice to the youth of Cameroon. It calls on armed groups to reconsider their actions, emphasising that denying education is not a path to justice but a desecration of humanity.

RESPONDING TO DANIEL CAPO'S STATEMENT

This statement responds to Daniel Capo’s call for the cessation of hostilities in the Anglophone War in Cameroon, issued through the Ambazonia Peoples Rights Advocacy Platform on 4 May 2024. The Women’s Convention for Peace welcomes this as a crucial step toward ending a prolonged conflict that has inflicted immense suffering, particularly on women and children. The statement reflects the Convention’s ongoing commitment to advocating for non-violent solutions and inclusive peace processes while holding both government and separatist leaders accountable for their actions.

Cette déclaration répond à l’appel de Daniel Capo à la cessation des hostilités dans la Guerre Anglophone au Cameroun, lancé par la Plateforme de Plaidoyer pour les Droits des Peuples d’Ambazonie le 4 mai 2024. La Convention des Femmes pour la Paix salue cet appel comme une étape cruciale vers la fin d’un conflit prolongé qui a causé d’immenses souffrances, en particulier pour les femmes et les enfants. Elle reflète l’engagement constant de la Convention en faveur de solutions non violentes et de processus de Paix inclusifs, tout en tenant les dirigeants responsables de leurs actions.
